HTML Banner Specifications

Under default settings the banner should not exceed a given size (For Example: for a banner of size 468 x 60 pixels, it must remain within this size)
At the moment, we do not accept banners/ads with a "form-parameter". If you have such requirement, please contact us.
The HTML Code has to be closed in itself and centre aligned. Especially it is not allowed to have changes in the BODY-tag or to be aligned right or left.
The following tags and end tags are not to be used in codes: <HTML>, <HEAD>, <BODY>, <TITLE>, <META...>
If the HTML-Banner is using more than one URL for click through, only the URL in the form can be tracked. Same thing applies for links which are released by JavaScript: only one URL can be tracked. The click rate measured by us would so be lower than the actual click rate.
In file names special characters (i.e. spaces etc.) should be avoided.
In order to measure the click rate each area has to contain a TAG similar to the following:
<a href='/adclick.php?n=aba1e2d2' target='_blank'><img src=/-----?clientid=4&n=aba1e2d2' border='0' alt=''></a> . This code will be supplied by Shetland Classifieds.

Flash Banner

Client must provide the SWF file - ideally the FLA file is sent too - plus an alternative gif banner.
The Flash should be programmed according to the international coding standards.
The maximum sizes for the SWF-Files are:
234*60 Pixel : 3,5 Kb
468*60 Pixel : 12,5 Kb
The customer is responsible for the full effectiveness of the SWF-file. Particularly the customer is responsible for testing the SWF-file with different browsers.

Dynamic HTML

Shetland Classifieds does not accept DHTML for the Homepage.
The general HTML rules apply for DHTML as well - especially important: the DHTML source cannot require any changes within the HEAD part of the Shetland Classifieds page. Therefore HEAD or BODY tags should be omitted.

Externally Served Ads

Ad banners that are served remotely must adhere to Shetland Classifieds' quality standards of 99.9% availability and must fit into the above specifications for maximum file size.
Externally served ads must adhere to a maximum download time of 3 seconds.

Other Information

Link: The length of a link address is limited to 256 characters.
Alt Text: A sentence (max. 50 characters) which is displayed when the banner is loading or when the user's browser doesn't show graphic formats.
Naming of Banners: The file name mustn't contain spaces or special signs.
Cookies: In the event that an ad banner serves cookies, the issuance of the cookie or other similar certificate must not interfere in any way with the serving of ad banner graphics or text. This includes cases where the end-user refuses the cookies or certificates either automatically or manually.

Note: The size of banner/text/image ad should not exceed 15 KB
